Melee is one of the very beautiful does we purchased from Ben and Kate Helms. She’s a very (very) dairy doe, with a gorgeous udder (high, wide, very easy to milk and has great lateral attachments). We still have her Gdam, “Queen” (a 5x GCH, BU, BOB, BIS doe) who came to us as an older, retired. doe. I was the tester of Queen when she was in her prime—-and WOW— she had such a great udder and one of the best milkers I’d seen. Over the years, we ended up with several of her daughters, the most favorite, of course is SGCH Priesty EEEE91—-Top 10 Milker (1292#), 4x GCH, 2X BOB, Total Performer, JuJu Platinum, Grand, & Gold Award winner (2016 & 2017).
Being a General daughter makes Melee all the more valued—-as he has rightfully earned the reputation for being an Udder Buck. I remember Kate being so excited that they were able to purchase General, and was so devastated when he tragically died after only one year. We happen to have four of his daughters (all have become foundation does) with super lovely udders, noticeably improved over their dams. Besides Melee, we have Virtue VEVE89 (a Patience daughter) who milked 1250#, litter sisters MaidAtArms 89.4VG+, VVEE88, 1000# as a FF, & War Emblem who milked 1450# as an older FF.
I’ve loved Melee and her sweet personality from the beginning and we are most blessed that she’s a part of our herd.
