Exquisite is one of those babies we decided to retain immediately. In fact, I wanted to keep both her and her sister (Extravagant). They were as close to identical twins as I’ve ever seen. If you wanted to know my ideal as a junior, yearling, & upcoming FF—-these two would be it. When the decision to reduce our numbers to a small fraction of what we’d had—-we had to pick. Although, it was agonizing trying to choose between the 2, it wasn’t as hard to part w Extravagant bc she went to D & L Meadows. I knew she would be so loved, have the absolute best care, and be developed to her wonderful potential.
This pedigree is really one of our best combinations. Bringing Oliver & Redemption in at the top—-along with General and Helmstead’s foundation buck Flame. Exquisite’s dam is Honor—-and while her numbers seem lacking at first glance. She left as a FF with about two months left to go on her 305. She had a gorgeous udder!!!! And, I was willing to let her go to Old Rugged Cross, bc I knew she would be a benefit to their program. Honor’s dam is Maiden—-and is a litter sister to Emblem. That was another tough decision—-bc by rights, one of the girls needed to be back at Kate & Ben’s farm (Helmstead Minis). We kept Emblem who had become a farm favorite bc of her quirkiness.
